Communications interventions at discharge may improve readmissions, adherence
A meta-analysis showed that readmission rates among patients who received communication interventions at discharge were 9.1% compared to 13.5% among those who did not. Patient satisfaction was also significantly higher: 60.9% were satisfied versus 49.5% of controls.

Decision-making preferences of hospitalized patients linked to care satisfaction, trust
In a survey study of hospitalized patients, most of them African American, those who disagreed with leaving medical decisions to their physicians were more likely to be dissatisfied with their care and lack confidence and trust in their physicians compared with those who agreed.
