Myocardial injury from COVID-19 rarely progressive, U.K. study finds

Few patients who had myocardial injury during a hospitalization for COVID-19 had a major adverse cardiovascular event within a year, and cardiac imaging at six months after discharge showed slight improvement in left ventricular ejection fraction on average.

Study highlights unnecessary transfers of patients with traumatic brain injury

Nearly half of patients with traumatic brain injuries managed at level I and II trauma centers were transferred from lower-level hospitals, and 37% of transferred patients were discharged from the trauma center within two days without undergoing any neurosurgical interventions.

The proportion of patients with influenza who were admitted to the ICU, received mechanical ventilation, or died increased with every additional day from admission until starting antiviral treatment, according to an analysis of CDC data from 2012 to 2019.
