Hospital performance on one stroke quality measure may predict performance on others
Hospitals that performed well on one of four indicators—carotid imaging, antithrombolytic therapy, treatment in a stroke unit, or discharge to inpatient rehabilitation—tended to also perform well on the other three, and the reverse was also true, with poor performance on one predicting poor performance on the others.

No neurologic benefit seen with liberal vs. restrictive transfusions in aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage
A randomized clinical trial found that neurological outcomes at 12 months did not differ in critically ill patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage and anemia assigned to a liberal (mandatory at a hemoglobin level of 10 g/dL or lower) or restrictive (optional at a level of 8 g/dL or lower) transfusion strategy.

Low-performing hospitals can improve quality for in-hospital cardiac arrest over time
A study found that while percentile rankings for risk-standardized survival rates remained generally consistent during follow-up periods at 45.2% of 166 study hospitals, 21.4% of bottom-performing hospitals exhibited substantial improvements on this quality metric.
