Asymptomatic bacteriuria treatment averted due to fewer urine cultures, study finds
Michigan hospitals successfully reduced their use of antibiotics in asymptomatic patients with positive urine cultures, and the difference could be tied to less culturing, since use of antibiotics among asymptomatic patients who got cultures didn't change significantly.

Two-step testing for Clostridioides difficile appears safe in multicenter study
Using an enzyme immunoassay after a positive nucleic acid amplification test was associated with a decrease in hospital-onset Clostridioides difficile infections and a reduction in related antibiotic use but no change in emergent colectomies.

Stewardship project in U.K. hospitals reduced average antibiotic dose duration at one year
The intervention included a decision aid that prompted clinicians prescribing antibiotics to classify inpatients' infection risk as possible or probable and then choose between stopping or continuing the prescription at 48 to 72 hours. They also received audit and feedback.

Antibiotic stewardship strategies linked to lower antibiotic overuse at discharge
