High d-dimer level on admission for heart failure may indicate higher short-term stroke risk
The study found the optimal d-dimer cutoff value for the risk of ischemic stroke in the hospital or within 30 days was 3.5 µg/mL, and no patients with a d-dimer level under the reference limit of normal had a stroke during follow-up.

Anticoagulation didn't benefit patients with afib secondary to ACS, pulmonary disease, or sepsis
Only a third of the patients were discharged on anticoagulation, and over a three-year follow-up period, receiving anticoagulation was not associated with a significant reduction in ischemic stroke.

Elevated troponin I levels during sepsis may indicate risk for postsepsis CV complications
A U.S. retrospective study looked at rates of atherosclerotic disease, atrial fibrillation, and heart failure in the year after sepsis in patients with elevated troponin I levels and no previous diagnosis of cardiovascular (CV) disease.
