Most asymptomatic C. difficile carriers in health care settings did not progress to infection
In a study at three U.S. hospitals and affiliated long-term care facilities, most patients who were found to be carriers of Clostridioides difficile had cleared the bacteria on subsequent testing, and only 13.4% were subsequently diagnosed with infection.

Nearly 10% of ED patients meeting Sepsis-3 criteria did not have true infection
Of 812 patients meeting Sepsis-3 criteria in four studied EDs, 79 (9.7%) had only possible infection and 77 (9.5%) were not infected, according to later adjudication of the records by trained nonclinician reviewers.

Early opioid withdrawal treatment reduced early departures from the hospital
Withdrawal treatment with buprenorphine, methadone, or other opioid analgesics was associated with a lower risk of patients with opioid use disorder leaving the hospital prior to completion of medical treatment versus no withdrawal treatment, a study found.
