Acute kidney injury (AKI) and diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) were worse with COVID-19, antibiotics were overused, and an online symptom checker didn't triage safely, but most hospitals had enough ICU beds and preprocedural COVID-19 testing showed that vaccinations reduced asymptomatic infections.

Gabapentinoids associated with severe COPD exacerbations
Severe exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) were more common in patients taking gabapentinoids for epilepsy, neuropathic pain, or other chronic pain than in matched nonusers, a Canadian cohort study found.

Complex in-hospital treatment linked to worse outcomes for heart failure with reduced ejection fraction
An observational study using data from real-world U.S. clinical practice found that one-third of patients hospitalized for heart failure with reduced ejection fraction experienced treatment escalation beyond initial IV diuretics.
