Preop hyperglycemia but not HbA1c associated with noncardiac surgery outcomes
Patients with a high fasting or random glucose level before noncardiac surgery were more likely to have myocardial injury or die at 30 days, but no increased risk was seen among those with a high HbA1c level, a South Korean study found.
