High inpatient mortality rate, disparities in incidence with candidemia in recent years
Bloodstream infections from Candida species were consistently more common in patients who were ages 65 years or older and in Black patients, and more than 60% of these infections occurred when a patient had a central line, according to CDC data from 2017 to 2021.

No difference in time to extubation with propofol, dexmedetomidine, or clonidine
Mechanically ventilated patients who were randomized to dexmedetomidine or clonidine were not extubated any sooner than those who received standard sedation with propofol, but they did have higher rates of severe bradycardia, according to a trial in the United Kingdom.
