Research on CPAP, HFNO, IVIG, and lung transplants for COVID-19
One study found that continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) outperformed conventional oxygen, but high-flow nasal oxygen (HFNO) did not. Another found no benefit from hyperimmune IV immunoglobulin (IVIG) in hospitalized patients. Two analyses showed good outcomes from lung transplants in COVID-19 patients.

New studies assess effects of anticoagulation during, after COVID-19
Use of intermediate, full-dose, or prophylactic anticoagulation in COVID-19 inpatients wasn't associated with any difference in in-hospital mortality in one study, while another found it was safe to discontinue anticoagulation after three months in patients with a COVID-19-associated clot.

Sepsis scores perform poorly in COVID-19 patients, study finds
In the latest COVID-19 news, a retrospective analysis tested common inpatient risk scores using data from patients who presented to EDs early in the pandemic, and the FDA authorized additional boosters for older and immunocompromised patients.

Higher dose of dexamethasone, noninvasive ventilation didn't improve COVID-19 mortality
A randomized trial compared two doses of dexamethasone as well as high-flow nasal oxygen, continuous positive airway pressure, and standard oxygen support in ICU patients with COVID-19 and respiratory failure and found no significant differences.

ACP reviews evidence on remdesivir for inpatients, updates practice points
The College's updated systematic review found that a 10-day course of remdesivir probably results in little to no mortality reduction but does probably moderately increase the proportion of patients recovered by day 29 and may shorten length of stay.
