Deterioration alert system did not reduce escalations from medical and surgical units

Rapid response teams didn't change hospital mortality among Medicare patients, study finds
An analysis of 56 hospitals from Get With the Guidelines-Resuscitation found that implementation of a rapid response team was associated with no change in inpatient mortality trends at 50 of the hospitals and higher-than-expected mortality at two.

Electronic tool for ICU-to-ward discharge linked to timely, complete discharge summaries
A Canadian study of adult patients discharged from the ICU to a hospital ward found that the proportion of those with timely and complete discharge summaries increased from 10.8% to 71.1% after implementation of a structured electronic discharge summary tool.

Model for COVID-19 triage, updated guidelines for inpatients, negative trial of ivermectin
An electronic health record tool used nine variables to predict which inpatients with COVID-19 would deteriorate. Two societies updated their guidelines on inpatient thromboprophylaxis and remdesivir use. A trial found that ivermectin had no effect on disease progression or mortality.
