Clopidogrel plus aspirin may reduce stroke risk better than aspirin alone after TIA, minor stroke
Patients with transient ischemic attack (TIA) or minor stroke who received clopidogrel and aspirin within 24 hours of symptom onset had a lower stroke risk than those who received aspirin alone, with no apparent increase in hemorrhage risk, a new study indicated.

Nurse-led early dysphagia screening linked to improved outcomes in stroke patients
The authors concluded that training nurses to screen for dysphagia on a 24/7 basis is associated with lower rates of pneumonia and shorter hospital stays than screening by speech language therapists during regular working hours.

High d-dimer level on admission for heart failure may indicate higher short-term stroke risk
The study found the optimal d-dimer cutoff value for the risk of ischemic stroke in the hospital or within 30 days was 3.5 µg/mL, and no patients with a d-dimer level under the reference limit of normal had a stroke during follow-up.
